The information below will guide your design to success, but we’re here to help, too. Your best bet is to design your mailer and then send us a pdf to have us find any problems with the design. We can help to make sure you are automation compliant and save on postage. As you are going through the process, do not let it stop your creativity. DESIGN REQUIREMENTS, BY MAIL TYPE

Postcards are the most popular direct mail marketing piece for many reasons.
They’re economically efficient and they’re compact, but most of all, they work.

FIRST CLASS MAIL POSTCARD

  • Shape must be rectangular
  • Minimum size: 3.5" high x 5" long
  • Maximum size: 4.25" high by 6" long
  • Mail forwarding and return service for undeliverables
  • Prices based on shape and weight

LETTER RATE POST CARDS

  • Marketing Mail
  • Minimum: 3.5" high x 5" long;
  • Maximum: 6.125" high by 11. 5" long
  • Folded postcards require a minimum of two tabs for closing during mailing
  • Must be rectangular, aspect ratio of 1.3–2.5 (Aspect ratio is length divided by height)
  • Forwarding and return service not included but are available for additional charge

FOLDED POSTCARDS

  • Weighs 3.3oz or less
  • Requires a minimum of two tabs for closing during mailing (see diagrams of required tabbing to understanded affected areas)
  • Must be rectangular, with an aspect ratio of 1.3–2.5 (Length / Heighth)
  • Minimum: 5" long x 3.5" high
  • Maximum: 10.5" long x 6" high when folded
  • Forwarding and return service not included but are available for additional charge

FLATRATE JUMBO POSTCARDS

  • Marketing Mail
  • Weight between 3.5 and 16 ounces
  • Minimum: 6.125" high or 11.5" long
  • Maximum: 12 high by 15" long
  • Tab Seals: Not required for Flats

  • First Class Mail Rates are available for both Automated Letter and Automated Flat Rate
  • Maximum weight is 3.5oz for first class letter rate and 13oz for first class flat rate
  • Includes forwarding to new address and return service for undeliverable mail
  • Prices are based on shape and weight
  • Must be rectangular, other shapes may incur additional charges

AUTOMATED LETTER RATE

  • Marketing Mail
  • Must be rectangular with an aspect ratio of 1.3 - 2.5
  • Minimum size: 3.5x5"
  • Maximum size: 6x10.5"
  • Square booklets smaller than 6x6" are subject to non-automated additional postage fees for each individual booklet
  • Maximum thickness: 1/4" thick
  • Maximum weight of 3oz
  • Tab seals required; see diagram for area

LARGE AUTOMATED FLAT RATE

  • Booklets larger than 6" tall, 10.5" long, or heavier than 3.5ozs are in this mailing rate
  • Square 6x6" mail at this rate with no additional fees
  • Maximum thickness: 3/4" thick
  • Maximum weight: 16oz
  • Tab Seals not required

ENVELOPE DESIGN TIPS

  • For window envelopes, ensure that address block is in the correct location with at least 1/4" clear space above and below address
  • Return address must be in top left 1/3
  • Leave the bottom 5/8" of the envelope blank
